Stockton Youth Pastor Arrested On Rape Charges

Jose Jandres Was Also Involved In Sacramento Activities

STOCKTON, Calif. — A Central Valley youth pastor is behind bars, facing charges in connection with the rape and sexual molestation of a 12-year-old girl.

San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputies arrested 23-year-old Jose Jandres of Stockton Sunday night around 7 p.m.
Jandres volunteered as a youth pastor at the Iglesia de Dios church in Stockton.

Jandres has been booked into the county jail on charges that include rape and lewd acts upon a child.

“Suspect told victim that her parents wanted him to purify her, which involved praying and blessing of the body,” San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department spokesman M.L Jones said.

Authorities say the suspect went on to touch the girl inappropriately and eventually molested her at her home several times.

“The victim, due to the trust issue, believed the suspect was doing what he was supposed to,” Jones said.

They arrested him after the young girl told her older sister and then an adult, according to authorities.
Church officials declined to comment to KCRA 3 Monday

Deputies fear the youth pastor volunteer may have targeted many more children in the Sacramento area.
“We’re asking parents who may have attended this church to see if there are any further victims,” Jones said.
